Robert F. Kennedy said, “Some men see things as they are and ask why? I see things as they could be and ask why not?” Mr. Kennedy was speaking of vision. Jesus said it best of all, “What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24). The world will never be better than the vision men hold of it in the future. If a better world is not today the substance of man’s present vision, then it will fail to become a fact in our tomorrow. If well nourished bodies, trained minds, safe streets, peaceful coexistence among nations and racial harmony are to be a reality tomorrow, then these must be the substance of our present vision.
These things must be a hope in our vision before they will become fact in our experience. If men are obedient to the great commission then we must be concerned with unloosing the mind from the shackles of narrow vision. “Where there is no vision the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). We should be concerned with leading people to dream. We should be concerned with leading humanity from what is to what can be. Many people’s view is narrow because their philosophy is based on the old adage, “seeing is believing.” However, Christianity introduces humanity to a new philosophy that believing is seeing. I am grateful that you (members) have chosen to step out on faith and receive the blessings that God has for Sylvarena. The vision God has given to me for Sylvarena is quite simple. First of all, God is leading us to become Bible-Based. I have found it to be true what Paul penned in Romans 10:2, “For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.” Therefore if we allow the Word of God to become a part of our daily lives, then we are equipped to battle the enemy. Secondly, we must continue to nurture and cultivate our youth. This is a generation of individuals that the enemy desire to destroy because of their potential. I believe that God is going to use our youth at Sylvarena in an awesome way. Thirdly, we must continue to support the vision of erecting The Sylvarena Family Life Center. With this center, we will be able construct more ministries that will cater to our community as well as our surrounding communities. With the erection of this building, we plan to implement programs such as the GED Program, Alcohol and Drug Program, Anger Management Program, Tutorial Programs, Programs for our Senior Citizens and many others. Lastly, we must remember that we are a church that is “Doing Things God’s Way.” And because we are doing things God’s Way, we must stay prayerful and not allow the enemy to detour us from our journey. At Sylvarena, we have developed the slogan, “It Ain’t About Us, Its All About Jesus”. Having said this, we invite you to come and worship with us as we render to God what’s due to Him and that’s OUR praise. Pastor Marcus Mann |
